"Reframing AI and Its Implications for Cinema and Cultural Production"

 

This talk will consider contemporary AI as an extension of computational power rather than a revolution of machine intelligence, exploring what that perspective implies for productivity, creativity, and inequality in the context of cinema and other modes of cultural production.

Gianluca Sergi is Professor of Film Industries at the University of Nottingham. His books include The Endless End of Cinema: A History of Crisis and Survival in Hollywood (2023), Cinema Entertainment: Essays on Art, Films and Filmmakers (2009), Making Films in Contemporary Hollywood (2005), and The Dolby Era: Film Sound in Contemporary Hollywood (2004).
